PArallel Numerical Open souRce Model for Unsteady flow Simulations
PANORMUS-FVM is a finite-volume numerical tool aimed at resolving the 3D momentum equations for incompressible flows using structured curvilinear non-orthogonal grids. Several turbulence models are available and free-surface flows can be analysed, using moving grids able to adapt to the changes in the water level.
Although the model is mainly devoted to the analysis of water currents, it can be used as well for air flows, whenever compressibility can be neglected.
The model allows to resolve transport equation for tracers, salinity and temperature as well. When salinity and temperature modules are activated, the density distribution is calculated too, whose effect on the momentum equations are taken into account using the Boussinesq approximation.
The PANORMUS-SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) module has been recently introduced, that can be easily activated through the Graphical User Interface.
A simple installer is provided for the Windows version, created using the open-source Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (NSIS).
A detailed User’s Manual is available too, which contains the description of the equations and procedures for the Finite volume modules, while those for the SPH approach will be added hereafter.
